Eleven People injured In Umlazi Taxi Accident [Photos]


[UMLAZI, KZN – 04 JUNE 2012 AT 11H45]

Eleven people have sustained various injuries after the taxi they were travelling in over turned on the Mangosuthu Highway near to the hospital in V section this morning.

ER24 paramedics from Durban and south region arrived on the scene and found the taxi on its side with the patients out of the vehicle by the time emergency personnel arrived on the scene. They assessed the patients and found that three patient were complaining of pains to their necks and back region. They were placed on specialised boards and taken to waiting ambulances for further medical treatment. Eight other people sustained minor to moderate injuries. All patients were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

It is believed that the driver lost control his taxi due to a possible mechanical problem and went up an embankment and rolled onto its side.

Traffic was affected due to this accident. The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
