[PEACEVALE, KZN – 29 JULY 2012 AT 07H30]
A father and son have sustained serious injuries after the car they were in left the N3 heading towards Pietermaritzburg in Peacevale went through the Armco barrier and landed on the N3 east bound this morning.
ER24 and EMRS arrived on the scene and found the car on its wheels with extensive damage to it and were blocking two of the three lanes of the freeway. The father and son had been taken out of the car by passing motorist before emergency personnel arrived on the scene. They were found next to the road side near to the car. They were assessed and found they had suspected neck and back injuries and minor cuts and abrasions. Paramedics stabilised the patients and transported them to Hillcrest Private Hospital for further medical care.
The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
