Five people have sustained various injuries after four vehicles collided into one another at the intersection of CR Swart and Ontdekkers in Roodepoort.
It is not clear as to how the initial collision took place or as to who was at fault, but all four vehicles came to rest in the intersection and they were all significantly damaged as a result of the impact. Two bakkies, a Toyota Quantum delivery vehicle and a Toyota sedan had collided due to unknown reason. Five people travelling in the vehicles, one driver in each and two occupants in one of the bakkies, needed to be assessed and then treated by paramedics who arrived on scene.
The five people were all placed on spinal immobilisation equipment and then transported per ambulances to hospitals in the surrounding region.
Investigators will need to determine what exactly took place leading to five people being injured and four vehicles badly damaged coming to rest in the intersection.
