Multiple fatalities after a train collides with truck near Malelane Mpumalanga [Photos]

A horrific train accident in Malelane, Mpumalanga has left multiple farm workers deceased and numerous injured.

Multiple Emergency Medical Services including ER24 paramedics and a medical helicopter was dispatched to a railway crossing which runs parallel to the N4 in the facility of Hectorspruit, approximately five kilometers outside of Malelane.

Upon arriving at the scene paramedics found that a train had collided into a truck on the level crossing. The truck was transporting a closed container which was filled with  multiple farm worker on their way to work. The container had been shredded open and the occupants had been strewn across the scene.

Various individuals had sustained fatal injuries and were later declared dead at the scene. Multiple Emergency Medical Services treated the patients at the scene for various injuries. All of the patients were later transported to various medical facilities for further care.

The appropriate authority will be investigating the incident further.
