[Daleside, GP 03 July 2012 14:00]

Two men have sustained minor injuries following a head on collision on the R557 near the M61 intersection in Daleside near Meyerton.

Paramedics and rescuers who arrived at the scene were surprised to find the two occupants of the Toyota Tazz seated on the side of the road, having been able to climb free of the wreckage themselves. The Tazz had collided head on with an 18 wheeler container truck, leaving the front of the Tazz crumpled and extensively damaged.

The cause of the accident remains to be investigated by local authorities, but paramedics quickly treated both young men, appearing to be in their late 20’s, for deep cuts to their faces and bodies, as well as multiple small scrapes and bruises. They were then loaded into the ambulance and taken to Natalspruit hospital for further medical attention.

The occupants of the truck were not injured in the collision.
