A man in his 30’s has been injured after he fell off his dirt bike at an off road dirt bike track in Balfour.
Paramedics were called out to assist at the scene after there were reports that the man had fallen and rolled approximately 8 meters down an embankment. He had been flung from the bike, which had gotten caught in the branches of a tree, so it had luckily not landed on top of him.
The patient complained of back pain and upon assessment, paramedics found that there were numerous signs that could indicate a severe back injury. Due to the terrain and distance to any of the hospitals in the area, the quick decision was made to call in AER24 to the scene.
The man was airlifted to the Union hospital in Alberton where he will undergo further assessment for his injuries.
