Pedestrian accident in Kenridge, Cape Town

A male pedestrian sustained serious injuries this morning after he was struck by a passenger vehicle on Durban road in Kenridge.

The man, believed to be aged in his 20’s, had exited a minibus taxi and attempted to cross the busy road when he was struck by a Toyota passenger vehicle. The pedestrian was catapulted into the air before landing in the road.

When ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene they found the patient being attended to by concerned bystanders. Paramedics administered Advanced Life Support treatment to the patient for a head injury, suspected back and neck injuries as well as broken bones in both legs.

The patient was later rapidly transported to Tygerberg hospital for further treatment. The driver of the passenger vehicle sustained no injuries in the incident. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
