Pedestrian severely injured in Bredell

[BREDELL, GP, 15 August 2012, 18:15]

A man, believed to be aged in his 30’s, is in a serious condition after being struck by a minibus while attempting to cross a road in Bredell.

ER24 paramedics received a call out to the scene on the corners of High road and Third avenue and found the man laying in the road. It seems as if the man had been struck by a Toyota minibus while attempting to cross the road.

The patient had sustained various serious injuries including suspected back and neck injuries, a head injury, chest injuries as well as a severely broken right leg. Due to the patients condition and the distance to the nearest appropriate medical facility on scene paramedics promptly dispatched a medical helicopter to the scene.

The man was later airlifted to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital for further care. None of the occupants in the minibus sustained any injuries in the collision. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
