Photos from horror school bus crash killing 4 children in Inanda, KZN

Sixty Five people were injured when a school bus plunged over the side of a cliff in Inanda this afternoon. Reports from the scene indicate that the bus was traveling from Umzinto on the Natal South Coast with sixty five children to partake in sport activity in the Inanda area. The driver lost control on a gravel road and rolled approximately 150 meters down a cliff.

Netcare 911 and the provincial paramedics as well as the fire services and police arrived at the scene and were faced with absolute carnage. The passengers were ejected from the bus as it rolled down the cliff, injured people and stuffed toys laid scattered along the side of the mountain.

After medics triaged the injured they found that four children aged between fifteen and seventeen had died due to the extensive injuries that they sustained. Fourteen sustained critical injuries, seventeen were seriously injured, and thirty others escaped with minor injuries.

Two medical helicopters were used to fly some of the critically injured patients to the Nkosi Albert Luthuli hospital; the other patients were stabilized on scene and then transported to various hospitals in the province for the care that they required.
