Four injured in Amanzimtoti head-on collision

Four people sustained various injuries this afternoon following a head on collision on Arbour road in Amanzimtoti.

The events leading up to the collision is unclear at this stage, but a VW Golf was traveling on the road when it allegedly clipped a roadside curb causing it to veer out of control. The Golf then collided head-on with a Mazda passenger vehicle.

ER24 paramedics who later arrived at the scene found that the driver and only occupant in the Golf was entrapped in the vehicle. Local fire and rescue services used hydraulic rescue equipment to free the patient. The driver received treatment at the scene for a suspected broken shoulder, cuts and bruises as well as suspected back and neck injuries, before being transported to a nearby hospital by another ambulance service.

There were three occupants in the Mazda, a mother and her two younger boys. All of the occupants received treatment for various scrapes and bruises as well as suspected back and neck injuries before being transported to a nearby medical facility.

Local law enforcementofficwls attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
