Man airlifted from Benoni taxi accident

Six people sustained injuries this afternoon following a collision between a minibus taxi and a passenger vehicle in Benoni.

The events leading up to the collision is unclear at this stage, but a minibus taxi had collided into the side of a passenger vehicle on Main Reef road in Benoni. ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene to find a total of six people in need of medical attention.

The passenger in the passenger vehicle had sustained a suspected back, neck, head and chest injury. On-scene paramedics promptly dispatched the AER24 helicopter to the scene. The patient was treated on the sene before being airlifted to the Charlotte Maxeke hospital for further treatment.

The remaining patients received treatment at the scene for injuries ranging from suspected back and neck injuries to various scrapes and bruises, before being transported to nearby medical facilities for further treatment.

Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the cause of the collision further.
