Motorcyclist Airlifted From Pringle Bay After Accident

[PRINGLE BAY, WC – 08 SEPTEMBER 2012 AT 13H30]

A motorcyclist in his early forties is in a serious condition after colliding with light motor vehicle on the R44 in Pringle Bay this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the motorcyclist in the middle of the road with the light motor vehicle just a few meters away. The paramedics assessed the patients and found that he had sustained long bone and short bone fractures and suspected neck and back injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient to help stabilise him. While the patient was being stabilised AER24 was called to the scene to help airlift the patient to Mediclinic Cape Gate for rapid medical care.

The road was closed for a short period while AER24 landed on the scene but the local authorities were on the scene and helped with the traffic problem. The driver of the light motor vehicle was not injured in the accident.
