One male driver sustained serious injuries yesterday evening following a head-on collision on the R304 near Klipheuwel.

The cause of the collision is unclear at this stage, but ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene to find that two vehicles had collided head-on. Paramedics could see that the collision was severe as both vehicles had sustained substantial damage.

The male driver of the one vehicle was entrapped and rescue personnel from the WCG: EMS had to use hydraulic rescue equipment to cut the man from the vehicle. Paramedics then treated the man for serious injuries to his legs and hips in the form of broken bones as well as suspected back and neck injuries.

The patient was later rapidly transported to nearby medical facility for further treatment. The single other driver sustained no injuries in the collision. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
