Photos from fatal crash on the N12 on Sunday afternoon

[Witbank, MP 16 September 2012 13:30]

A man has been killed and another two men critically injured after a single vehicle accident took place on the N12.

The call came through to 084 124 with a plea for help at a very bad accident that had happened shortly before 13:30 this afternoon. Ambulances booked mobile to the scene which was near the Petroport, approximately 50 kilometers outside of Witbank in the direction of Johannesburg. The white BMW Station Wagon had rolled, landing back on its wheels at the side of the road. All three men who had been traveling in the vehicle at the time had been ejected.

The men, all believed to be in their early 40’s, were found lying outside of the wrecked car. One man had already died from the extensive injuries he had suffered. The two other men were in a critical condition and they required urgent medical care at a hospital.

Both of the injured patients were quickly loaded into two ambulances and rushed to hospital. The Advanced Life Support paramedic met one of the ambulances en route and placed the patient on life saving equipment. The other patient had been receiving assisted ventilations on the way to hospital and was also placed on life saving equipment once he was further assessed in the hospital’s trauma unit.

The BMW appears to have been the only vehicle involved in the accident.

The cause of the fatal accident is still under investigation by police.
