Rush-hour accident at Linksfield intersection

This morning (13 September) at around 7:15 a Toyota Condor and a Ford Fiesta collided at the intersection of Linksfield Road and the N3 onramp. The Ford Fiesta was turning onto the N3 south onramp when it was hit side-on by the Toyota Condor.

Terence Teixeira from the Matrix Road Safety Association arrived on the scene, and reported that a male teenage scholar in the Toyota sustained a small laceration to the face. No other injuries were sustained. “The Matrix Road Safety Association vehicle arrived on scene and the on board Emer-G-Med medic assessed the young man, addressed his laceration and the scholar was taken to hospital for a check up,” he says.

“Unfortunately the scholar was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident. Had he been wearing a seatbelt when the accident occurred perhaps he would not have sustained any injuries. At all times ensure that the driver and all passengers are securely strapped in. It can mean the difference between life and death, particularly in high speed accidents,” he says.

Texeira also urges drivers to be extra cautious when approaching busy intersections. “Always observe the behaviour of other drivers. Don’t take risks. Rather take a few extra seconds to assess the intersection and decide the best course of action before proceeding,” he concludes.
