Single Vehicle Accident On The M7 Leaves Two Injured

[PINETOWN, KZN – 05 SEPTEMBER 2012 AT 13H30]

A driver and passenger both in their twenties have sustained serious injuries after losing control of their light motor vehicle on the M7 Pinetown bound just after the Hans Dettman off ramp this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the light motor vehicle in the left hand lane of the highway. The vehicle had extensive damage and both driver and passenger where mechanically entrapped. While paramedics assessed the patients, the local Fire Department used specialised rescue equipment to extricate the patients. Once freed, the patients were treated for suspected neck and back injuries and possible broken bones. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patients before they were transported to Life Westville Hospital for further medical care.

It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control but the local law enforcement authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
