[UMLAZI, KZN – 04 SEPTEMBER 2012 AT 08H00]
A teenager is in a serious condition after he was knocked down by a taxi on the Mangosuthu Highway this morning.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the taxi in the left hand lane of the highway near to the construction site. The pedestrian was lying on the floor in front of the taxi. He was assessed and found he had a suspected neck and back injury with minor cuts to his face and hands. The patient was placed on a specialised board and taken to a nearby Provincial Hospital for further medical care.
It is believed that the taxi come across in to the construction lane where the pedestrian was standing and was unable to move out the way before knocking him over. The local law enforcement authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
