Truck Driver And Passenger Injured In N11 Accident

[MIDDELBURG, MP – 12 SEPTEMBER 2012 AT 12H00]

A truck driver and his passenger have sustained moderate injuries after losing control of the articulated truck on the N11 Kranspoort between Middelburg and Groblersdal this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics from Groblersdal and Middelburg responded to the scene and found the articulated truck lying upside down off the road with the cabin completely damaged. The driver and passenger both males had somehow climbed out of the wreckage by the time emergency personnel arrived on the scene. Paramedics assessed the patients and found they may have suspected neck and back injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patients before they were transported to Middelburg Provincial Hospital for further medical care.

The truck was carrying magnetic dust on the way to the border when the driver lost control of the vehicle and went up a embankment and rolled down on to its roof.

The local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
