On 25 October 2012 at approximately 16:00, a taxi was suspected to have tried to overtake a vehicle on Central road in Houghton. During the overtake the taxi was suspected to have lost control of his taxi and collided with a nearby tree.
Terence Teixeira from the Matrix Road Safety Association said that on arrival 14 passengers who were in the taxi had sustained light to moderate injuries. One passenger who was entrapped in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and was treated by the Emer-G-Med paramedics on scene.
The City of Johannesburg Emergency services were also present on scene to extricate the entrapped patient. All patients were treated stabilized and transported to hospital.
