Emergency workers injured at accident scene on the N2 North near the Umgeni Road off-ramp

Six people were injured after a truck and a bakkie slammed into the emergency vehicles on the N2 North near the Umgeni Road off-ramp this morning. Paramedics from various services this morning at 03h00 raced to the scene of an accident where a vehicle rolled on the N2 near the Umgeni Road off-ramp.

While the Netcare 911 and other services were stabilizing the injured a heavy goods truck came hurling down the highway and slammed into the ambulances. Two emergency workers were injured one critically and the other one sustained serious injuries, they were transported to the Netcare St Augustine’s hospital for the care that they required.

We were still clearing up the scene with S A P doing the investigation when a 4×4 came down the N2 slammed into a vehicle that was slowing down for the accident and pusher it into the Tow trucks and yet another emergency vehicle . The wreckage of the errant party coming to rest a hundred meters down the road with tree people still in the crumpled remains.

One emergency worker and three others were injured and had to be transported to hospital. The drivers of the Truck and bakkie were taken by the SAP for questioning. As paramedics and emergency workers that put our lives at risk every day to save those that area injured, we plead with the public to please slow down on the roads especially when you have to navigate your way around accident scenes.
