A man was knocked down by a car on the N1 highway between the Rivonia Road on ramp and the Buccleuch Interchange on the N1 North.
ER24 paramedics returning to base after another call, witnessed the incident, and stated that the man seemed to have just gotten out of his car that was now parked along side the highway when he was knocked by a Toyota Auris that was traveling on the highway. They immediately pulled over and started to treated the critically injured man.
They desperately tried to stabilise the man’s injuries, but the collision had left him with multiple and severe traumatic injuries. Despite paramedics in the area arriving on scene to assist and everyone putting in their best efforts, the man’s condition deteriorated to a point where there was no chance of revival. The young man in his late 20’s had succumbed to his injuries and he was declared dead.
Local police who arrived on the scene will need to conduct thorough investigation into the cause of the fatal accident.
