[PEACEVALE, KZN – 25 OCTOBER 2012 AT 12H45]
Sixteen people have sustained various injuries after a taxi they were traveling in lost control and rolled on the N3 Pietermaritzburg Bound in the right hand lane near to Peacevale this afternoon.
ER24, VEMA and EMRS arrived on the scene and found the taxi on its side up against the Armco barrier with all the commuters seated up against the Armco barrier behind the taxi. The right hand lane and middle lane was affected as emergency services needed to treat and stabilise the patients. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that four people had sustained serious injuries and were treated for neck and back injuries. The remaining twelve patients were treated for minor cuts and abrasions. All patients were transported to various hospitals for further medical care.
It is believed that the taxi had some sort of mechanical problem causing the driver to lose control and over turn.
