Taxi and two cars collide in Linden

[Linden, GP 28 October 2012 09:00]

A Taxi, Toyota Tazz and Mercedes collided with one another at the corners of 4th Avenue and 8th street in Linden this morning. With the impact, the Tazz was crushed in on the drivers side, and the vehicle pushed up against the Traffic Light pole. The 31 year old woman who had been driving and was alone in the vehicle was trapped in her seat, but fortunately she was in a stable condition.

The local Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to remove her from the wreckage while paramedics treated her inside, once she was removed from the car she was placed into the waiting ambulance and then transported to Mediclinic Sandton for further care.

The driver of the Mercedes was found walking around the scene and he had suffered no physical injuries. He did however have three young children traveling in the vehicle with his at the time of the accident and the had suffered minor to moderate injuries. After they had bee thoroughly assessed and treated on scene they were taken by ambulance to Milpark hospital.

The taxi had been transporting approximately 10 commuters at the time but they had all fortunately only suffered minor injuries and they too were taken to a local hospital for care.

It is not yet clear as to how this accident occurred, but local authorities will be investigating.
