Truck Driver Airlifted After Collision Near To R59

A truck driver is in a critical condition after losing control of his truck on Ring Road near to the R59 off ramp in the direction of Alberton this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the truck on its side with the driver still entrapped. The emergency personnel had to remove the windscreen to gain access to the patient. The patient had sustained a head injury, a broken arm and traumatic injuries to his hand. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient to help stabilise him further.

AER24 was called to the scene to airlift the patient to Union Hospital for rapid medical care. The road was closed for a short period due to the accident but the local authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
