2 Injured, 1 Seriously in M4 Sibiya Accident

Crisis Medical paramedics responded to reports of a serious accident on the M4 North bound before Sibiya Drive at 18:30 this evening.

On arrival, paramedics found a white VW polo lying on its roof and a Toyota bakkie 20 meters down the road. Paramedics set to work on a female patient who was trapped in the VW stabilising her neck and back. Great care was taken to remove the patient from the vehicle where she was then placed on a spine board with suspected neck and spine injuries before being transported to Umhlanga Hospital by Crisis Medical in a stable condition.

The driver of the Toyota vehicle was taken to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

At this stage, it is unknown what caused the vehicles to collide but it is suspected that an errant party lost control in the wet weather causing the accident.

SAPS will be investigating the incident.
