2 People Killed, 5 Injured In Umdloti Accident

Crisis Medical paramedics responded to reports of a serious accident on Main Road (M27), Umdloti at 19:30 this evening.

On arrival, paramedics found a badly damaged 4×4 SUV off the road. Paramedics immediately set to work assessing the patients and prioritising them due to injuries.

Unfortunately two people had succumbed to their injuries before the arrival of paramedics and were declared dead on scene. Four critical patients were stabilised for suspected, head, neck and spinal injuries before being transported to hospital in a critical state for the life saving care they required. One patient was transported with moderate injuries.

From on scene reports, it is believed that the vehicle was leaving Umdloti on Main Road and then lost control causing the SUV to roll repeatedly. At this stage it is unclear what caused the vehicle to lose control in the first place.

SAPS will be investigating the incident.
