Collision On The R27 Leaves Seven Injured

[CAPE TOWN, WC -28 NOVEMBER 2012 AT 13H00]

A collision involving three motor vehicles on the R27 about 30km outside of Cape Town has left one person in a critical condition and six others with various injuries this afternoon.

Emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found a Land Drover on its side with extensive damage to the vehicle. The other two vehicles were near to the accident scene with damage to both vehicles. The exact cause of the accident will be investigated by the local authorities.

One person was in a critical condition and needed Advanced Life Support intervention. The patient had sustained multiple injuries and was airlifted by a medicopter to hospital for further medical care. The remaining six patients were treated for suspected neck and back injuries and multiple cuts and abrasions. They were stabilised on scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.

The road was closed for a short period while emergency personnel were busy on the scene.
