Female entrapped after vehicle roll-over on the N1 North Sunninghill

At around 12.30am on Sunday November 11, 2012 EMER-G-MED responded to an accident on the N1 North, near the Bowling Road Bridge in Sunninghill. A female passenger was entrapped in the vehicle.

It is alleged that a bakkie hit into the back of their vehicle causing it to roll several times. The bakkie then sped away from the scene.

The passenger sustained a fracture to her ankle, major lacerations to her face, thoracic and lumber spinal injuries. Sandton Fire Department extricated her from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life.

Wayne Grindell of EMER-GMED administered analgesia for severe pain. Medics fully immobilised her on a spinal board and transported her to the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in a stable condition for further medical treatment.

Another Priority 2 patient was transported to Helen Josef with moderate injuries. The two other occupants sustained only minor injuries and did not require hospital transportation.
