Five Injured In Campsdrift Accident

[PIETERMARITZBURG, KZN – 10 NOVEMBER 2012 AT 17H25]

A collision involving two motor vehicles on Campsdrift Road near to Makro in Pietermaritzburg has left five people injured this afternoon.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found one of the motor vehicles off the road and down an embankment and had collided into a tree. The second vehicle was on the road with extensive damage to the front of the vehicle.

The passenger of the light motor vehicle that was down the embankment was entrapped. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient before the local Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other rescue equipment to extricate her from the vehicle. The three remaining occupants of the same car were treated for suspected neck and back injuries. The driver of the other motor vehicle who is believed to be underage teenager had sustained injuries to her arms. All patients were treated on scene and transported to Mediclinic Pietermaritzburg for further medical care.

The necessary authorities will be investigating the accident further .
