Approximately 10 kilometers from the town on the N14 outside do Kuruman in the direction of Kathu, a VW Amrok and Toyota Corolla collided into one another leaving one man dead and another three people with moderate injuries.

Although it is not clear as to the exact events leading up to the crash, it is suspected that the Amrok may have been trying to overtake when the driver had to swerve back into the lane and crashed into the rear right hand side of the Corolla. The Corolla’s side was crushed in, and the impact caused the sedan to roll up the short embankment, coming to rest on its roof.

Paramedics arrived on scene to find that the had been four occupants of the Corolla, two mean and two women around the age of 30. Sadly, one of the men had not survived the impact and he was found lying on the roof of the overturned vehicle having suffered fatal injuries. The two women and man received treatment for various cuts to their faces and bodies and one of the women is suspected to have dislocated her shoulder. The three patients were taken to hospital by ambulance for further assessment and care.

There had been no one on scene who had been traveling in the Amrok at the time, and police will investigate the cause if the collision.
