Eight people have sustained various injuries after the taxi they were travelling in collided with a light pole at the corners of Eeufees and Gladstone Road near to Northridge Mall in Bloemfontein this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the taxi in the intersection with extensive damage to the vehicle. Three people were treated for suspected neck and back injuries and five others had general body pains with minor cuts. They were stabilised on scene and transported to Mediclinic Bloemfontein and Pelonomi Provincial Hospital for further medical care.
It is unclear what caused the driver to lose control and crash into the lamppost but the necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
