Pedestrian dies after being hit by a car in Bloemfontein

A male pedestrian has died after he was struck by a passenger vehicle on the N8 outside Bloemfontein this morning.

ER24 paramedics were on their way to a motor vehicle accident when they were rerouted after receiving word that a pedestrian had been struck by a car on the N8 highway. Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, they found the pedestrian in a serious condition.

The man, believed to be aged in his 20’s, had sustained a serious head injury as well as suspected back and neck injuries. The patient received Advanced Life Support treatment at the scene, but paramedics noticed the mans condition deteriorating rapidly. After a while the patient had stopped breathing and had no pulse. Paramedics initiated resuscitation efforts on the patient while rapidly transporting him to a nearby medical facility.

Unfortunately the patient was declared dead shortly after arriving at the medical facility. The occupants in the passenger vehicle sustained no injuries in the collision. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
