Pedestrian crash in Cape Town

A pedestrian has sustained some injuries this morning after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the N2 highway near the Cape Town International airport.

The events leading to the incident is unclear, but the pedestrian had stepped into the highway when he was struck by a Toyota passenger vehicle. The pedestrian was flung into the air before landing on the road.

ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene to find the Life Vincent Pallotti paramedic already attending to the injured pedestrian. The patient, believed to be aged in his mid 20’s, had sustained suspected back and neck injuries as well as a broken leg. Paramedics carefully immobilised the patient to spinal equipment before transporting him to the Vanguard day hospital for further treatment.

The occupants of the the Toyota passenger vehicle sustained no injuries in the collision. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
