Pedestrian sustains serious injuries in Waterkloof collision

A female pedestrian has sustained serious injuries this afternoon after she was pinned between a Jeep and another vehicle while attempting to cross a road in Waterkloof.

The events leading up to the incident is unclear at this stage, but the pedestrian had attempted to cross the road when a Jeep SUV and a Hyundai passenger vehicle collided into each other pinning the pedestrian between the two vehicles.

ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene and found that the patient, aged 37, had been removed from between the two vehicles. The female patient had sustained serious injuries and the Advanced Life Support paramedic had to act quickly in order to stabilise the patient. The patient received treatment at the scene for severe traumatic injuries to both her legs as well as a head injury and a suspected broken hip.

Paramedics and ambulance personnel later rapidly transported the patient to a nearby medical facility for further care. None of the occupants in the other vehicles sustained any injuries in the collision. Local law enforcement officials attended the scene and will be investigating the incident further.
