Taxi Accident in KZN Leaves Ten School Children Injured

[DURBAN, KZN – 09 NOVEMBER 2012 AT 16H30]

Ten school children aged between six and twelve and one adult have been injured after a collision between a taxi and a light motor vehicle on the M4 Southern Freeway, Durban bound before Victoria Embankment in the taxi and middle lane this afternoon.

ER24 along with other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found the two vehicles in the middle of the Taxi and middle lane of the freeway. The light motor vehicle had extreme damage to the front and the taxi had damage to the back. Ten school children who were seated in the taxi were assessed and found that they had sustained minor cuts and abrasions and were complaining of general body pain.

The passenger of the light motor vehicle was treated for suspected neck and back injuries and was placed on a specialised board. All patients were stabilised on scene and transported to various hospitals in the area for further medical care.

All necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further. Traffic was severely affected in this area due to the accident.
