A collision on Old South Coast and Eel Road involving two trucks has left a driver in a serious condition this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the two trucks in the left hand lane of the intersection with one of the articulated trucks had gone into the back of the other one. The truck had extensive damage to the cabin and the driver was entrapped. Paramedics assessed the patient and found he had a suspected neck and back injury. The patient also had a suspected broken leg and multiple cuts and abrasions. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient while the Fire Department used the Jaws of Life and other rescue equipment to extricate him from the vehicle. The patient was transported to Life Entabeni Hospital for further medical care.
The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the accident further.
