Two men injured after being knocked while pushing broken down car

[Golfpark, GP 29 November 2012 22:00]

Two young men have been badly injured after they were collided into while pushing their broken down vehicle along Mimosa street in Golfpark area, Meyerton this evening.

The Ford Lazer is believed to have suffered mechanical failure and the 28 and 31 year old occupants started pushing the vehicle along the road in the very dimly lit area. The driver of the 4×4 bakkie most likely had not seen the vehicle being pushed in the road, and he collided into the two men and vehicle.

After paramedics were called, they arrived on scene to find the 28 year old man underneath the 4×4, and they removed him, treated him for serious injuries and rushed him through to a nearby hospital for further care. He was handed over to hospital in an alert and stable condition despite the serious nature of injuries that he had sustained.

The 31 year old man was found lying on the road; his injuries were extensive and the Advanced Life Support paramedic had to provide his care while the other paramedics prepared him for transport in the ambulance. His injuries were of such a severe nature that most of the patients stabilisation took place en route to Mediclinic Vereeniging in the back of the ambulance. Paramedics had a high suspicion that the man’s back and neck were badly injured, and he had visible severe abdominal injuries. The patient was handed over to hospital staff in a critical condition.

The driver of the 4×4 did not sustain any injuries in the collision.
