A light motor vehicle collided into the side of a taxi at the corners of Berea and Essenwood Street in Durban this morning.
Paramedics arrived to find that all the occupants if the taxi removed themselves from the wreckage, except an elderly lady that was still trapped inside. Five patients sustained injuries, including the elderly lady, but it is not clear how many people were in the taxi at the time.
The patients suffered moderate to serious injuries and were all in a stable condition. All five patients were transported to hospitals in the area for further medical care.
The driver of the sedan was found walking around on the scene, he had been the only occupant of his vehicle and had suffered only minor injuries. He did not require further medical care in hospital and left the scene privately.
It is not clear as to who was at fault for the cause of this collision and local police are currently investigating.
