A horrific accident about 15km outside of Kimberley in the direction of Barkley West involving a Land Cruiser and a Audi has left five people dead and two people with moderate injuries this morning.
ER24 and other emergency personnel arrived on the scene and found half of the Audi off to the side of the road and into a fence while the back half was on the road near to the Land Cruiser.
Paramedics assessed the occupants who were in the Audi but had found that four men and one woman had sustained very traumatic and fatal injuries and were declared deceased on scene.
The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were treated for moderate injures and transported to Kimberley Hospital for further medical care.
It is believed that the driver may have had some sort of mechanical problem which caused him to lose control and veered across the road into the other vehicle.
The road has been closed to traffic while the necessary authorities investigate the accident scene.
