Be Flash, Be Visible and Be Safe in Traffic

With dark nights comes an increased danger to pedestrians and cyclists. Whether you are taking the dog for a walk, out on your bike, going for a run or have children who enjoy playing out, it is important that everyone is kept safe after the sun has set. This can be easily achieved with the use of light up safety gadgets which enables you to been seen by others in the dark, especially while near busy roads.

When out and about after the sun has set it is important you take adequate steps to ensure you are seen by others, by following these simple tips you will be seen and safe:

Cyclists….

Cyclists are at particular danger as they share the road with cars and other vehicles. In Britain alone every year around 17,000 cyclists are killed or injured in reported road accidents, of which around 2,500 are killed or seriously injured. When cycling on roads always wear a helmet and at night time attach a reflective LED helmet marker. You can attach LED bike spoke lights to your wheels, which not only keep you safe, but also create dazzling light effects on the flashing and constant LED modes, children especially love these.

To increase your visibility further you can wear a reflective vest to ensure you are seen by everyone.

Walking & Running….

To maximise your safety while out on an early morning or evening walk or run, you can wear a reflective/LED running marker band around your upper arm, these are super bright and can often be seen from over a mile away. You can also attach reflective strips to clothing and bags.

Walking the Dog….

It isn’t just people who are at risk from the roads in the dark; animals can be in danger too. When walking your dog on a morning or evening, it can be very easy to lose sight of your furry friend in the dark. You can buy an LED light-up dog collar for your dog to wear to ensure you can always see them while they are off their lead. These durable lightweight collars are perfect for everyday use and are available in a choice of colours so you will always know where your dog is. You can also attach a LED light to your dog’s collar which emits a bright glow that can either be set to flash or constant modes and can be seen by everyone within 1000 feet; ensuring your dog is visible to everyone, especially cars.

When you and your children are out when it is dark, it is very important that you are all wearing appropriate clothing and accessories. Don’t go out wearing all dark clothing; vehicles will not be able to see you. Ensure you are wearing bright clothing and have as much glow in the dark or reflective items on as possible. Have some fun with it as keeping safe doesn’t have to be boring.
