Man badly injured in Cape accident

A man in his early 60’s has been badly injured after a Toyota Fortuner collided into the side of his Opel Corsa bakkie at the corners of Milner and Townsend road this afternoon.

The man in the Corsa was turning into Townsend road from Milner, when the Toyota crashed into the passenger side of the Corsa. The Corsa was pushed into the pole of the traffic light, leaving the driver trapped in his seat.

The Jaws of Life were used to cut the vehicle open so that they could remove the injured patient. The man had suffered an injury to his head and it was bleeding profusely, paramedics also suspected that he had sustained a possible skull fracture. They treated him for his injuries and he was then transported by ambulance to the Tygerberg hospital for further care.

The driver of the Fortuner was no injured in the accident.
