Netcare 911 paramedics, rescue services and other medical services joined forces to free a seriously injured patient after the delivery vehicle he was travelling in, smashed into the back of a stationary heavy goods vehicle on the R24, after eleven o’clock this morning.
The passenger of the delivery vehicle sustained moderate injuries and was treated on scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
The driver of the delivery vehicle was entrapped in the vehicle and the fire department had to use the Jaws of Life to free the man.
Medical and rescue members skilfully immobilised and removed the man from the vehicle, before transporting him to a nearby hospital for the medical care that they required.
