Photos from tragic accident on Cedar Road, Fourways

One person was killed, two critically injured and another person sustained moderate injuries after two cars collided at high speed on Cedar Road in Fourways on Friday night December 14, 2012 at around 8.30pm.

It is alleged that one driver lost control of his vehicle on the wet road while going around a corner and collided head-on with another vehicle.

EMER-G-MED paramedics arrived at the scene to find two patients in a critical condition; the driver of the vehicle that lost control had sustained a fractured femur, a possible head injury and lacerations.

The back seat passenger of the other vehicle sustained a head injury and had lost consciousness; medics from many EMS services were on scene and started lifesaving intervention on the patients immediately.

The front seat passenger of the vehicle that was hit had sustained possible broken ribs and abdominal injuries but was in a stable condition. Tragically the driver had already succumbed due to the severity of his injuries.
Three patients were transported to hospital by EMER-G-MED and another ambulance service.

Motorists are urged to reduce their speed on wet roads, especially when the road is dark with poor visibility.
