A twenty two year old quad biker is in a serious condition after crashing his quad bike on a dirt road about 8km from Potchefstroom this afternoon.

Some children who were riding their bikes in the area found the injured rider and quickly went for help. ER24 paramedics arrived on scene within minutes and found the patient who was in a lot of pain. Paramedics assessed him and treated him for suspected neck and back injuries and possible chest injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient.

While the patient was being stabilised, AER24 was called to the scene to airlift the patient to hospital for further medical care.

It is believed that the rider lost control of his quad bike after crashing into a concrete pillar near to him.
