Side impact collision leaves two injured

[Benoni, GP 04 December 2012 05:00]

Two light motor vehicles collided with one another at the corners of 4th Avenue and Tom Jones Street this morning just after 5am. A Peugeot and a Toyota Tazz had collided in a side impact collision, where it is believed that the Peugeot was driving on 4th avenue and crossing over Tom Jones when the impact occurred while the Tazz was travelling along 4th Avenue.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and found that there had been a single occupant in each vehicle, and both vehicles were crushed and extensively damaged. The driver of the Tazz was trapped in his seat, the front of the vehicle had been crushed in as far as the drivers compartment. The Jaws of Life were used to cut away at the crushed metal, and the man in his 30’s was removed into the ambulance.

The driver of the other vehicle was quickly removed from the car and both patients were transported by ambulance to the Life Glynnwood hospital.
