Truck crashes off the M13 bridge

[Durban Central, KZN 28 December 2012]

Incident time: 12:45

Both driver and passenger traveling in a container truck have suffered serious injury after the truck drove over a bridge coming to land on the road below.

The truck is believed to have been traveling along the M13 when for some unknown reason the truck driver lost control and the truck went over the concrete barrier landing on its side on Stapelton road below. Upon arrival of paramedics, both patients were alert and talking but extreme caution was taken to prevent any further movement of the two men so as to protect them from any further next or back injuries which were suspected upon initial assessment.

Both men were safely and quickly removed from the truck and they were both treated for their various injuries including suspected broken bones, and both men believed to be in their 30’s were then transported to local hospitals by ambulance.

Fortunately no other vehicles had been traveling along Stapelton road when the truck crashed down onto it, and the truck had been the only vehicle involved in the incident.
