Two women critically injured in N12 collision

Two women have been severely injured after the car that they were traveling in lost control right at the entrance to Potchefstroom.

The VW polo was traveling on the N12 heading into the town when the driver is believed to have lost control. The vehicle the spun out of control, where the back of the VW then crashed into the back of a stationary 18 wheeler that was parked on the other side of the road.

Both women, who were back passengers, were trapped due to the extensive damage to the rear of the car. The Jaws of Life needed to be used to remove the two patients from the wreckage.  The woman in her 20’s needed to be placed on life saving equipment due to the critical injuries that she had sustained, while the woman in her 40’s had suspected cheat injuries and broken hips. Both women were taken to the Provincial Hospital by ambulance for further care.

The driver and front passenger had luckily not sustained any injuries.
