A child believed to be about eight years of age is in a critical condition after being knocked down by a light motor vehicle on the Paul Kruger Highway between Benoni and Springs this morning.
ER24 paramedics rushed to the scene and found the young child lying to the side of the road with the light motor vehicle just a few meters away. The child was assessed and found she was in a critical condition. Paramedics suspected head injury and neck and back injuries. Advanced Life Support intervention was performed on the patient before she was airlifted by AER24 medicopter to hospital for further medical care.
The necessary authorities were on the scene and would investigate the incident further.
