A collision on the N4 direction Johannesburg near the Arnot Bridge about 25km from Middelburg involving a truck and a SUV has left one person dead and three others with minor injuries this afternoon.
ER24 paramedics from Middelburg responded to the scene and found the two vehicles in the road with extensive damage to both vehicles. Paramedics went to the SUV and found the driver, a male believed to be in his mid to late fifties entrapped inside the vehicle. Paramedics assessed the patient and found he had sustained very traumatic and fatal injuries and was declared deceased on scene.
The three occupants from the truck were treated and stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital by the local Provincial Ambulance Service for minor cuts and abrasions.
Due to the debris in the road, only two lanes of the N4 were open to motorists while the necessary authorities were on the scene to investigate the accident further.
