A young man in his 20’s has been killed and his colleague left with severe injuries after the small truck that they were travelling in collided into the side of an 18 wheeler this morning.
The accident took place at the Corobrick Phakisa crossing approximately 5 kilometers outside of the town of Welkom where the large truck was crossing through the intersection and the smaller truck then collided into its left side. The driver of the 1 toner was killed as a result of the impact, and miraculously, his colleague who was sitting in the passenger side, survived the impact. He had suffered multiple serious injuries in the form of a broken leg and chest injuries and he was transported to the local provincial hospital for further care. Two occupants in the truck were treated for minor injuries and they too were taken to hospital by ambulance.
